The island has two nature reserves - home to an abundance of wildlife; a grey seal colony, ducks, gulls, oystercatchers, & plover aplenty, & owls & falcons! The recently opened Walney Coast Path, offers 21miles of beauty to ramble along. There are fabulous cycle routes including Morecambe Bay Cycleway, & our very own links golf course with stunning views at every turn Piel Island with its King (yes, really!), castle & pub, & don’t forget the Dock Museum celebrating Barrow’s world-famous shipbuilding heritage. Do You have a bar and restaurant?
Sorry no we don’t have a bar or restaurant. We do however have a large well equipped kitchen that guests can prepare meals for themselves in. There are also some very good pubs in the vicinity; The Crown at North Scale serves great food and if you show your West Point House key fob you get 10% discount, there is also The Ferry located on the promenade which does a fantastic carvery for only £4.99. You are also welcome to bring your own drinks for consumption in the premises.
Are you dog friendly?
Sorry, I am afraid that West Point House does not allow dogs
What is there to do on Walney Island and the vicinity?
Walney Island is a fabulous place to explore. The recently opened Walney circuit of the Cumbria Coastal path where you can walk all the way around our island and take in some beautiful scenery. There are also some hidden gems such as The Furness Abbey – a Cistercian monastery dating back 900 years, The Manjushri Centre – a beautiful Buddhist temple with some soul enhancing walks, Walney nature reserve and the Walney Seals, Piel Island and its castle to name a few. The Furness area is a hidden gem of intrigue with plenty to explore.
I am concerned about COVID – how clean is West Point House.
We are fully COVID compliant and have recognition from The National Tourist Organisation that we have processes in place to maintain exceptional levels of cleanliness and aid social distancing. All rooms are fully sanitized prior to your arrival and we have a dedicated housekeeping team that work tirelessly to ensure we uphold standards of cleanliness you would not find anywhere else.
Can I get a cheaper deal if I book directly?

Yes – we have secure storage for bikes, and golfing equipment.
